Who We Are

The origin of the Fundraiser

Misaada for You is a UK-registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) based in Ipswich, Suffolk, created in response to the unique and often overlooked challenges faced by migrant workers, carers, and vulnerable individuals navigating life in a new country. We understand that integration is not just about paperwork or policy—it’s about people. That’s why our support is holistic, combining practical guidance, emotional care, and community connection to help individuals not only survive but truly thrive in the UK. We know that when people thrive, they contribute better to society. We provide a safe, welcoming environment where people are treated with dignity and where barriers are removed through advocacy, education, and personalised support.

Our Story

Misaada for You was founded on both lived experience and professional expertise.

Our founder, Mercy Nzuruba, is a registered social worker at master’s level with over 15 years of experience working within the UK’s social care system. She is also a mother, a lifelong carer, and a woman who has lived the very challenges many of our beneficiaries face.

Throughout her career, Mercy witnessed the systemic gaps that left migrant families, carers, and vulnerable individuals without adequate support—particularly when it came to accessing culturally competent care, understanding their rights, or finding emotional and legal advocacy.

At the same time, her personal life was shaped by the complexities of caring for a child with special needs and navigating social services firsthand. These dual perspectives—as both a professional and a service user—inspired her to create something different: a charity that understands its community from the inside out.

And so, Misaada for You was born. The word Misaada means “support,” and that’s exactly what we provide—professional, informed, compassionate support that is grounded in real experience and driven by a mission to empower others.

From its earliest days to now, the charity has grown into a trusted space where people find more than services—they find dignity, hope, and a pathway to thrive.

Founder’s Message

Mercy Nzuruba

“Misaada for You is more than a charity. It’s a reflection of my life’s journey — as a carer, a mother, and a woman who understands what it feels like to fight for support, to advocate for a child, and to navigate systems that were never built with you in mind. I’ve worked in the social care sector for over 15 years. I’m a registered social worker with a master’s degree in social work — and I’ve spent my career supporting vulnerable people from all walks of life. But I’ve also lived the realities that many of our clients face. I’ve stood in their shoes. That’s why this work is personal. I founded Misaada for You because I saw a gap — a need for holistic, culturally informed care that not only helps people in crisis, but also restores their dignity, confidence, and hope. I wanted to create a space where people feel seen, safe, and supported — not judged or passed from service to service. At Misaada, we walk with people. We listen. We advocate. We uplift. Whether it’s a mother trying to rebuild after trauma, a migrant worker struggling with housing, or a young person lost in the system — our door is open. Every person who comes to us receives more than a service. They receive compassion, respect, and a clear path forward. This is not just my work — it’s my calling. And I’m proud to lead a team who shares that vision, every single day.”
